It Takes Two!

Shoutout to my roommates "Dumb" & "Dumber" (hahaha) for blasting this song for three weeks straight. Harlem rapper, Rob Base, took the world by storm with his 1988 hit "It Takes Two". What started as just a catchy tune to entertain Harlem party-goers, quickly transformed into a multi-platinum selling record. I know everyone knows this song.. Enjoy the video!

Malcolm X Murderer Soon To Be Released

On February 21, 1965 the African-American community lost a major human rights activist. A courageous man who voiced his opinion wherever he went in hopes of bringing about change, Malcolm X played a key role in the Civil Rights Movement during the 1960's in New York City. While delivering a speech, his life was ended abruptly with the firing of 16 shots; this moment stands still in African-American history today. 45 years later, the only man who admitted his involvement in Malcolm X's death is being released from prison. Thomas Hagan was granted parole on March 3rd and is scheduled to be released on April 28, 2010.

UNSIGNED SPOTLIGHT: LeFty

"But if it wasn't for the BRONX this rap sh*t probably never would be going on .. so tell me where you from" Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz repped the Birthplace of Hip-Hop proudly in their smash hit, 1998 Deja Vu (Uptown Baby). Hailing from the Bronx himself is up and coming artist, LeFty.  Though he resides in Atlanta, Lefty's tracks exhibit a genuine NYC feel, heavily influenced by hip-hop from the 80's and 90's. "Signature" Style: Fab Cleans Up Nice

Brooklyn rapper, Fabolous is featured in an upcoming issue of Signature Magazine. Coincidently, Adrienne Bailon is on the cover for this same issue Fab is featured in. Best known as 3LW's lead singer and perhaps her relationship with Rob Kardashian, Bailon has been rumored to be dating Mr. Jackson for the last few months. I can't call it! But it does look like these two share something...
Here are some excerpts and photos from both interviews.

Fabolous On His Fashion Line & Music
“…I feel like the product I‘m putting out is representing me. So I wouldn’t really want it any other way but to be honest to what I want it to be.”
“Any type of success you need to be determined, need to focus, and need to know that [there are] gonna be people who doubt you and some speed bumps and things to try [to] slow you down from your destination.”
“Just the hunger for more kinda always inspired me…I’m a fan of the music as well. So when I hear something dope, it inspires me.”
“Give your all, and if you give your all and it doesn’t come out, then we can say that we did all we can do.”
